Donald Trump has officially been reinstated to Twitter after Elon Musk left it to the people to decide the former president’s fate.

On Friday, Musk posted a poll to the social media site, inviting the public to weigh in on whether or not the former president should get his account back. With more than 15 million votes, Trump secured a narrow victory in the poll.

More than 51% of the people voted to bring Trump back to the platform. Musk acknowledged the results on Saturday, indicating that Trump would be reinstated. In a follow-up tweet, Musk revealed that the poll had been seen by more than 134 million people.

Trump’s @realdonaldtrump account is active again, but he has not tweeted anything. His last tweet came on January 8, 2021, when he announced that he would not attend President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Trump received a permanent Twitter ban in the wake of the January 6 riots. Since receiving the lifetime ban in January of 2021, Trump has created his own social media platform, Truth Social. Fox News reports that the former president posted an update indicating that he will stay on his platform.

“Vote now with positivity, but don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere,” Trump wrote. “Truth Social is special!”
