TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Since the implementation of Florida’s Toll Relief Program last month, more than 1.2 million SunPass customers have saved nearly $42 million, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Friday.

The program, which is in its second consecutive year, helps customers with at least 35 monthly toll transactions, by giving them a 50% credit automatically on their accounts.

Last year, the program saved commuters $500 million for 1.2 million people, averaging around $400 per person, DeSantis’ office said.

No sign-up is needed. All drivers with a Florida-based transponder are automatically enrolled.

“What started as a successful SunPass Savings Program has turned into a Toll Relief Program for a second year in a row, further reinforcing our state’s commitment to offering direct, immediate relief to Florida’s families,” Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez said. “This support goes a long way for commuters, and I am proud to stand alongside Governor DeSantis in helping Floridians get this much-needed relief.”

DeSantis said the toll relief will continue through March 2025.
